Gas safe register
If you have ever wanted proof that the person servicing your boiler is a legitimate gas engineer, then you will be pleased to know that there is already a system in place that can allow you to cross-check their legitimacy within the heating engineer industry in the form of the Gas Safe Register. Every gas engineer must be registered and are given a card as proof.
Once upon a time, the gas registration body in the United Kingdom was known as CORGI and every engineer had to be CORGI registered. However, in 2009 this changed to the gas safe register. The following year, Northern Island and Guernsey also changed to this gas registration body. By law, all gas engineers must be on the Gas Safe Register. The engineers will then be given a Gas Safe Registration card which can be checked online or on the phone at any time by the customer.
All Able Group engineers that undertake any heating work are Gas Safe Registered and we urge the customer to check to verify if they so wish. If works are being carried out on an oil boiler however, the engineer will not have to be Gas Safe Registered, as Oftec is the official governing body in this instance.
