That’s why we’re proud to announce an exciting step forward: the launch of our very first electric van trial.
Leading the Charge with the ë-Berlingo
Our trial vehicle, the Citroën ë-Berlingo, is currently being driven by Darren, one of our expert in-house pest control engineers, as he travels across Derbyshire. The van is 100% electric, producing zero tailpipe emissions while still delivering the reliability and practicality needed for our busy engineers on the road.
This trial will help us understand how electric vehicles can perform day-to-day across different routes, job types, and travel distances – all while reducing our carbon footprint.
Why Electric Vehicles?
Transport is one of the UK’s largest contributors to carbon emissions, and the Government has already set ambitious targets to phase out petrol and diesel vans in the coming years.
Electric vehicles bring a range of benefits:
- Cleaner air – no exhaust emissions, helping reduce local air pollution.
- Lower running costs – EVs are cheaper to charge and maintain compared to petrol or diesel vehicles.
- Quieter journeys – helping engineers travel more smoothly through residential areas.
- Future-ready – as charging infrastructure expands, EVs will only become more practical and efficient.
By trialling electric vans now, we’re not only preparing for the future, but actively working towards a greener, more sustainable business today.
What’s Next?
We’ll be carefully reviewing performance, range, charging, and practicality to see how electric vans can work within the Able Group fleet.
Our goal is to make sure that when we do introduce more EVs, they enhance both our commitment to sustainability and the high standards of service our customers expect.
