Moths are harmless and don’t spread disease. But in large numbers, can be a real problem and you won’t want them in a wardrobe, cupboard or pantry, using your clothes or dry foods for nutrition. While there are around 2,500 species of moths in the UK, homes and properties will commonly have problems with three: the clothes moth, the brown house moth and the white-shouldered house moth. The clothes moth and brown house moth feed on clothing – the brown house moth usually feeds on animal products such as leather – and the white-shouldered moth lays eggs and feeds on cereals.
If you see adults more often or in larger numbers, it can mean an infestation has already taken hold. Finding eggs, or larvae is also another clear sign that you need our advice on effective moth pest control.
